Normal & Superior Consciousness

By: I W. Sudarma

Salam Kasih

There are two kinds of consciousness.
FIRST there is normal consciousness. This is where there is a distinction between the subject and the object; the subject is the one who is conscious, the object is the focus of consciousness. Thus normal consciousness is concerned with investigating objects, discriminating between one object and another, and enjoying objects. Normal consciousness is also capable of making itself the object of consciousness.

SECONDLY there is superior consciousness. Consciousness passes through various stages, gradually freeing itself from the objects of consciousness. Finally consciousness alone remains; this is superior consciousness-which is perfect knowledge.
